Jazzworks Masterclasses are an outreach initiative developed by the Edmonton Jazz Festival Society (EJFS) to provide an inspired setting for development and learning through mentorship. Select performers from the 2017 TD Edmonton Jazz Festival Society line-up have committed to sharing their knowledge and experiences by leading participants and observers through workshops, discussing a variety of topics including, but not limited to performance, composition, professionalism, as well as working with participating ensembles’ prepared pieces.

90-Minute Clinics | Opportunity to Showcase at the Yardbird Suite | On-site Lunch Options
The Jazzworks Non-Competitive Band Festival (NCBF) provides an enhanced workshop experience for junior high and high school students playing within large jazz ensembles.
CLINICS | Students participate in 90-minute, recorded clinics that provide ensembles the opportunity to receive constructive feedback on technique, style, and professionalism from a panel of acclaimed clinicians.

SHOWCASES | Some band directors may choose to have their ensembles perform in the Band Festival’s Evening Showcases. Ensembles performing in these showcases take to the Yardbird Suite stage to perform a 30-minute showcase amongst their peers and a supportive audience.Four time slots are available each night and can be reserved on a first come first serve basis.
FREE PERFORMANCE BY EDMONTON JAZZ ORCHESTRA | 12:15pm-1:00pm Wed-Fri | The Edmonton Jazz Festival Society is delighted to present daily lunch hour concerts for participating ensembles. Our esteemed clinicians will sit in with the members of the Edmonton Jazz Orchestra (EJO) for these up-close-and-personal performances at the Yardbird Suite.
LUNCH OPTIONS | Lunch order options will be made available to participating schools to allow students/teachers to enjoy a warm meal while watching the show. $10 per person – includes pizza, drink and fresh veggies.
