Creative Small Group Workshops

June 24 - July 4, 2010
A component of the Edmonton International Jazz Festival
ABOUT
Jazzworks Creative Small Group Workshops is an educational component of the Edmonton International Jazz Festival that provides participants with a week-long opportunity of growth and development under the guidance of established International, Canadian and Edmonton musicians. As a professional development workshop created for university / college aged musicians, young jazz professionals and exceptional high school students, the sessions are intended to offer aspiring jazz musicians the opportunity to further develop their skills within the jazz realm.
Participants are selected by audition, and are placed in a ten piece ensemble consisting of full rhythm section and a horn section. Each ensemble will be exposed to seminars involving adjudication, composition, professionalism, the business of music, a concert performance during the Edmonton International Jazz Festival, as well as opportunities for private listening experiences during sound checks with International Artists!
The sessions are run under the direction of Edmonton's own Don Berner and guided by recognized professional jazz artists in live, interactive performance workshops. Workshops are open to the public observation.
