Rob Thompson Trio
BIOGRAPHY
Rob Thompson began playing piano at age six, and started exploring jazz in
his teens. After attending Grant MacEwan Community College and the
University of Alberta in Edmonton, Rob began performing professionally
around Western Canada and abroad. He has studied privately with Joanne
Brackeen, D. D. Jackson, and John Stetch. Rob has also been honoured to
play as a sideman with artists like Slide Hampton, Hugh Fraser, and P.J.
Perry, among others.
He counts many jazz greats among his influences, including Herbie Hancock,
Bill Evans, Brad Mehldau, and Jacky Terrasson. Rob¹s playing is considered
modern, energetic, inspired, and accessible. His most recent recording is
his debut CD 'You and I' (2007).
